We all get busy and distracted. It causes us to stop pursuing our hobbies. But there is no doubt that moms have an even harder time with this. They have very little time for themselves. Whatever time they do have is spent helping others or worrying about them. Because they have so much depending on them, they tend not to have any time for hobbies even if they miss them. That is why we need hobbies for busy moms!

Moms work so hard for others. They put all their energy and effort into helping their children and everyone else around them. They deserve to have a hobby of their own! If anyone deserves to have some time for themselves, it’s the people we all rely on so much! Check out these great hobbies for busy moms!

Reading

After having kids, it suddenly becomes so much harder to read. You are always too distracted to concentrate. However, there are so many good books out there waiting for you!

Kids keep you busy. You are on the run getting them to band practice or the soccer game. Yet, a lot of your time is spent waiting on them, so why not take some of that time for yourself? Pick up a book and bring it with you. Even just a couple of minutes of reading is worth it!

Reading is one of those great hobbies for busy moms! It’s easy and portable. Perfect for the mom on the go!

Knitting/Crocheting

Out of all the hobbies for busy moms, this one is probably the most practical. Knitting and crocheting are amazing for creating new things around the house. You can create new blankets for your kids or yourself. You might even be able to create clothing for your children, especially when they are young. Baby booties, slippers, and sweaters make for a great addition to your or your children’s wardrobe.

Everything you make can also be sold or given as gifts. It will save you plenty of money on baby showers and other similar parties. You’ll love knitting/crocheting if you give it a try!

Scrapbooking

With kids, you don’t always have time to do anything creative. Therefore, when you do choose to finally engage in a hobby, you want it to be worth it. Scrapbooking is a great option for you!

Scrapbooking has a purpose: to document all of your beautiful memories in one place. Pictures of your children and family can all go into your scrapbook. This hobby can help you to find a creative outlet in your life while also making something special for you to see in the future. You’ll love having those scrapbooks around later in life to share memories with your grandkids.

Cooking/Baking

Cooking and baking seem pretty self-explanatory. Taking care of kids is tough! They are always hungry but for some reason, they never want what you make for them. By improving and working on your cooking and baking skills, you can enjoy your hobby without feeling like you have wasted your time. (And you might just find something your children actually want to eat!)

When you practise your cooking and baking skills, you always get something out of it: food to share with your family. But the best part about this hobby is, of course, all the sweets you get to eat. Your kids might force you to share your goodies, but the sweets you’ve managed to hide from them are going to taste amazing!

Photography

Kids grow up so fast! And you want to document every moment of it. So it isn’t that far-fetched for you to take up photography.

With photography skills and a good camera (or even a camera on your phone), you can easily take pictures of your kids and everything going on in their lives. That school play, no problem! The family vacation you took during the summer, you”ll have so many memories and pictures to remember it by!

Photography is one of those great hobbies for busy moms that you can use in your daily life. With kids, you’ll definitely want lots of pictures. This is the perfect way to get them!

Thrifting

Who doesn’t love shopping?! The problem is that parenthood leaves little in the budget. Paying for food, clothes, and school is expensive. As much as you want all those fancy things, the kids come first.

Thrifting is great for those moms who still want to shop but can’t afford to buy a whole bunch of expensive clothing. Your kids can also find great things while thrifting. You have to go buy them new clothes anyway. So why not go get some new clothes for you at the same time?

In addition, thrifting is good for the environment. Clothes you reuse don’t end up in landfills. Reusing and recycling is a great lesson to teach your kids!

Yoga

Busy moms are stressed! They have so much to handle: feeding the kids, getting them places, making sure the kids do their homework, caring for them when they get sick, and so much more. Being a parent is one of the hardest jobs out there!

Because parents are so stressed, they need some way to relax and to care for themselves. Yoga might be exactly what they are looking for! With yoga, you can work on relaxing. And it doesn’t have to take that long. 15 minutes of yoga a day is great! Yoga is also a form of exercise, which let’s be honest, we all need sometimes.

This hobby is perfect for all those busy moms out there!

Puzzles

There are so many different kinds of puzzles: sudoku, crosswords, regular puzzles and more. If reading isn’t for you, you might want to try some kind of puzzle. Most of them are easy to bring with you when you are on the go. When you are waiting for your kids to get out of practice or to finish school, you can complete a puzzle.

Moms don’t have plenty of time to themselves so they have to take all the time they can. Hobbies for busy moms need to be easy and quick. You can easily pick up a puzzle and complete it later. Try them out for something to fill those moments you still have to yourself!

Volunteering

With kids, you always have to be a good role model. Your kids will repeat everything you say and replicate everything you do. This is exactly why you need to start volunteering! You can find a sense of fulfilment in helping those in need while also knowing you are raising thoughtful children.

Volunteering doesn’t have to be a huge commitment. You don’t have to take on a new job or anything like that. But your community will always need help, like handing out food at the local shelter or giving out water at a marathon. Even the smallest of acts have an impact on someone else’s life.

Just keep a lookout for volunteering opportunities and you are on your way!

Wine Tasting

Last, but definitely not least, wine tasting. Being a parent is exhausting! You do so much for others that you deserve some time to yourself, especially some adult time.

Spending the entire day watching kids’ shows and talking to no one but your kids can get to be too much. You just need some time to engage with other adults.

Wine tasting is the perfect way to have a relaxing evening while also having an adult conversation for once. Try some nice wines and have some adult time! You deserve it!

Moms are busy and stressed! They have so little time left over for themselves because they are always taking care of everyone else. Moms do so much for others. But that is exactly why they deserve to have their own hobbies! Hobbies for busy moms aren’t always easy to come by because they are, in fact, busy. But moms deserve to take back their time. Try out these hobbies today to get your time back!
