Fall has such a beautiful aesthetic. You can just imagine yourself sitting in a dark library with the fireplace on, a mug of hot cocoa in your hands. As you sit there, you can see the leaves falling from the trees through the windows. You look down and continue to read your book until your heart’s content. Fall is definitely one of my favourite times of the year. And it helps that fall hobbies are always the best!

When it comes to fall, there are so many hobbies you can do that fit right in with the comfort and coziness of the season. The hobbies below are just what you need to get into the fall spirit!

Reading

Reading is by far the best hobby to do in the fall! I love to read when the weather gets just a little cooler. You can read both inside and outside of the house. It’s really a lovely time to enjoy a good book!

When I think of fall, I always think of snuggling up under a warm blanket with a good book. I honestly can’t imagine having a good fall without reading at least a few books.

Walking

The outdoors are just so beautiful in autumn! The leaves are falling. The weather is cool enough that you can choose to wear a sweater or you can go out in just a t-shirt, which happens to be my favourite weather (sweater weather, as I call it). Essentially, it’s the perfect time to spend your days outside. The weather is just so exquisite!

You’ll love going for walks in the fall! It’s a great activity to get those last rays of warmth before the winter kicks in. Once winter hits, you’ll be less motivated to walk. It’s best to get all your walking done in the fall when you still have some warmth!

Knitting

Autumn starts right before winter. And if you are looking for some fall hobbies to get ready for the cold, knitting is for you! With knitting, you can create some beautiful new accessories. There are so many things you could make, like scarfs, hats, and mittens.

Knitting is a great activity to do inside of the house. If you aren’t really a big fan of the cold, knitting is one way to keep you busy inside while also creating something to keep you warm.

Writing

I feel like writing in the fall is an aesthetic in itself. Just imagine all the writers sitting in their coffee shops with a warm coffee in hand and a laptop in front of them. They are all snuggling up into their warm sweaters as they watch the leaves fall outside onto the street. The warmth from the coffee seeps into their fingers and toes and drives them to write more. The fall season, in my opinion, is just so inspiring!

Fall is the perfect time to get into writing. You are suddenly more inclined to stay inside because the weather is getting colder, so you have more time to write than before and you haven’t hit the lack of motivation that is winter yet. Fall is a great time to start writing that manuscript!

Baking

I think a lot of people will agree with baking being on this list. The fall is definitely my favourite time of the year to bake. We always go apple picking, which I make into apple crisp. (I make really good apple crisp if I say so myself!) I also love baking cookies in the fall.

When the weather gets cooler, it’s time to start turning the oven back on! In my house, baking starts up immediately after the weather cools down. I am sure you’ll love all the pastries and goodies you can come up with!

Puzzles

I love when the weather gets colder, but it does start to limit what activities can be done outside. No more swimming, sadly! Therefore, you need to find some more activities to do inside. Why not try puzzles?

Puzzles can mean word crosses, sudoku puzzles, or just puzzles. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a relaxing activity to do during the day. Fall is when everything starts to slow down, so you can too.

Puzzles are also something I can imagine is a really peaceful hobby to do while you watch the leaves fall through the window.

Board Games

When you are stuck inside with your family because of the cold weather, it is the perfect time to start bonding with them. Board games are a great way to bring a family together. It does take some skill, so if you practice enough you might even win. Be careful though! No one likes a sore loser (or a sore winner)!

With all the board games you probably already have in your home, playing these games is an easy hobby to pick up. Now all you need is to pick a partner to play with and you are set and ready to go. (Just don’t play Monopoly! Never Monopoly!)

Corn Mazes

Where I live, we grow plenty of corn. Out in the agricultural areas, there are fields upon fields of corn. It’s one of the main side dishes we eat during the summer. Because of all that corn, we tend to have lots of fun activities to do in the fall, like finding our way through a corn maze.

Walking through mazes is so much fun! Yes, most of them are intended for kids so they aren’t that hard. However, I’m sure there are lots of fun mazes to do for adults that give you the fright you have been looking for.

If mazes aren’t your thing or you have no cornfields to create mazes from, you are always welcome to try something a little spookier, like a haunted house. I’ll stick to my mazes though. No haunted houses for me!

Painting

I personally find the fall season so inspirational, which is why I love fun and creative fall hobbies. Painting just happens to be on that list. I think painting makes for a great fall hobby. You can create all of the beautiful and colourful scenes you see in front of you in art form.

The colours in fall are so beautiful and they are sure to make your paintings pop! Every season is beautiful to paint, but I don’t think any of them have as vibrant of colours as autumn.

When you have a couple of paintings of this stunning season, you can hang them up and remember how it felt when you painted them. You’ll have all those wonderful fall feelings with you all year. That sounds great to me! I might need some fall paintings now!

Photography

Photography, like painting, is to keep your memories and views of something alive. Because the fall scenery is so beautiful, I’m sure you will absolutely love to take some pictures during this season. You might not have been looking for something to photograph, but the fall season is perfect for getting those vibrant pictures that give you comfort all year round.

With some pictures of fall on your computer or on your wall, you can always be reminded of the comfort that fall brings to you. You might even take a few pumpkin spice latte pictures to remember them all year round!

Who doesn’t love the autumn season? The trees are losing all their leaves. The air is crisp but not yet cold. You can enjoy the last bit of warmth before the winter sets in. To enjoy all the wonderful things autumn has to offer, you are going to want to try some of these fall hobbies. I know I’m looking forward to the beautiful weather and all the fun activities that come with it! Let me know what your favourite fall activity is in the comments below!
