I get stuck on a book every once in a while. It is so frustrating!! Getting stuck on a book is the worst feeling. You desperately want to read but the book you are reading isn’t working for you anymore. You have spent hundreds of dollars on books, especially on series, that you never ended up finishing. How terrible is it to spend so much money on books and then get stuck halfway through a book or a series?

I can’t express how disheartening it is to want to read but not being able to because you are stuck. You just want to finish your book or series but you can’t! If you want to stop yourself from getting stuck on a book, try out these amazing tricks now! No more readers’ block!

Push Through

Sometimes you just need to push through. Once you get past the part where you are stuck, the rest of the book might be enticing. You might end up loving the book! The endings are always the most exciting parts of a book anyway!

However, keep in mind that pushing through can also be damaging to your love of the book. You may be stuck on the book because you no longer want to read it. If you continue to read, you might end up hating the book. That might just be a risk you have to take.

Give Up

Usually, I would never suggest giving up, but sometimes the book just isn’t going to work out. Some books are just not for you. That’s okay! I know firsthand how much you want to read that book. It’s hard to give up on it, but sometimes you need to.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but not every book is going to work for you. Don’t force yourself to continue reading if you won’t enjoy it! Reading is meant to be fun and pleasant for you. If you don’t love it, it’s simple. Just don’t read it!

Take a Break

As much as you want to finish that book, it doesn’t mean that you will end up finishing it immediately. A break is sometimes necessary. It doesn’t mean you have failed in any way. It just implies that you need some time off.

Everyone needs a break every once in a while. You need some time off. A break can help you to get your groove back! With a short timeout, you will be able to read again.

Read Something Else

When I get stuck on a certain book, sometimes it helps me to read something else for a while. I choose something simple and short but it gets me back into the mood to read.

If you also want to try reading something quickly to get back into reading, try Wattpad. They have some great books that you can read in as little as a few hours. They aren’t always the best quality, but as long as you can go back to your original book, that’s all that matters.

Start the Book Again

There are times where we stopped reading because we were stuck on one part of the book. A few weeks or months later, you realize that you don’t remember what the book was about.

The break from the book was hopefully enough time to get your reading groove back. A break is great for getting back into that mindset. But now that you took that time away from the book, maybe starting the book from the beginning is the best route for you.

I hate getting stuck on a book! I’m sure a lot of you feel the same way, especially since you are reading this article. It almost hurts not to be able to read, but there are ways to get past that. You can always try to push through it, give up, take a break, or start the book again. Try out these methods to get yourself to stop getting stuck on a book today!
