When we go on vacation, we typically have plans. We want to go swimming, go shopping, go sightseeing, and so much more. However, with a pandemic going on, not every activity we have planned is possible. Therefore, we need to come up with some more options to fill all your free time while you are away. Here are a few hobbies for you to take with you while on vacation:

Reading

Sometimes we all just need a good book to curl up with. However, our everyday lives keep us from having any real free time. Vacation is the perfect excuse to read. You might have lots of activities planned; yet, you can read a little in the morning when you wake up or at night before you go to sleep. You might also need a break in the middle of your day. When you are vacationing in nature, such as you sitting on the porch of a rented cabin, you should have plenty of time to read. It is so relaxing to read with a beautiful natural view and fresh air.

Books also take up little space in your luggage. When it comes to travelling, it is difficult to bring along your hobbies. A lot of hobbies require tools and equipment. With books, you can easily bring them along. Unlike some other hobbies, reading is an easy and great hobby to try while vacationing.

Running

Running is the perfect hobby to continue while on vacation. If you are already a runner, you likely run almost every day, if not every day. You do not want to stop your routine even while on a trip. There are benefits to running while you are away. When you are in a new place, you want to see as much as possible. Running is the perfect way to do that. You get to see your new surroundings at your own pace. Whether you are vacationing in a new city or in nature, it is always a great idea to keep your running routine on your vacation.

A great thing about running is that you do not have to bring much to be able to run while away. You will likely need a few workout outfits and a water bottle. But those items are easy to bring with you.

Playing Cards

If you are vacationing with family and friends, you might want to find something you can all do together. Card games are a great activity to do with others. There are so many different games you can play with one deck of cards. A lot of card games can be difficult to learn, so this might be more of an activity for adults. However, there are lots of games for children too, like Go Fish. If your vacation involves staying in a remote place to relax, card games might be one of the main activities you have to do as a group.

Cards are also easily packed in your luggage. They are a great option for something to bring along with you while you are away.

Collecting

When people are on vacation, they are always looking for souvenirs. Why not make your souvenirs special? When you are in a new city, you can try picking up something that reminds you of it. You can create some great collections with postcards that you pick up. There are lots of things to collect in cities, such as pictures, pamphlets, books about the city, or even autographs from people you meet in the city. If you put your mind to it, you can come up with some creative things to collect.

If you are vacationing in nature, you can pick up items like rocks or sand from a beach or certain types of plants you want to press in a book.

Collecting can be a little costly, depending on what you choose. However, if you choose something that costs nothing or very little, you can have a great time collecting during your vacation.

Learning Languages

If you are vacationing in a new country, you can continue your language education. Being in an environment where they speak the language you are trying to learn is a great way to pick up the language that much quicker. All you need to bring along with you is an instructional book or even an app, such as Duolingo or something equivalent. Immersing yourself in the language you are trying to learn helps to improve your understanding of it. If you are in a new place with a new language, it is a great idea to keep your education going.

When you are away, it can be difficult to keep up with your hobbies; however, a vacation does not necessarily mean you have every second of the day planned. There are lots of great activities to fill your time. Listed above are just a few examples. Now go have fun on your vacation!
